The level is a dark forest with a road intersecting halfway. I intend the player to start at the south of the forest and to have to make their way north and will encounter a road intersecting the forest halfway through.

Started with a blank open level with a grass floor texture. Looked through the available tree models and chose a forest style tree. I chose a pine tree and began to paste hundreds to make a really thick forest with low visibility. To complete the low-visibility effect I needed the lighting for the level to be that of a nightscape. I encountered much difficulty in changing the background and lighting using “loadsky” and “skybox” commands.

I eventually discovered that my problems were partially caused by incorrect use of syntax and was able to load a background and main lighting that was very suitable.

Morphogenesis story

My name is Calum Hamill McMahon, and I am studying games design at City College Plymouth. As part of the course I am required to make a level for a game. The game I am creating for this assignment, in collaboration with Luke Simpson and Richard Gibbs is called ‘Morhpogenesis’. Many aspects of Morphogenesis are yet much undecided, such as the story, although it roughly outlined to be about humans vs mutants that are caused by a virus. The initial stroyline is yet undecided but is likely to be one of the following.

  1. either wake up to screams neighbour with shotgun gets killed u kill enemies pick up shotgun go on killing spree OR

  1. House party where a mate goes into the back garden and gets disembowelled by a group of mutants

  1. (Weather: Snowing/ Fog/ Mist ) If possible add small storm effect with short sighted vision and mutants dive at you from the darkness.

  1. ( Boss wanted all employees killed, day he gathered everyone to take to the mutation lab as experiments you where late/ ill / day off. All workers where killed and turned into mutants and people are going into the forest on the outskirts of the city

  1. The biotech lab on the outskirts of the city is currently being used for research towards a cure of a pandemic in Japan, Your boss unfortunately wants to use the facility for his research in Morphogenesis you are not told about this fact “

Morhphogenesis will definately feature the player going through a town, then a dark forest and finally a science lab. The town is being nicely developed by Luke, while I am creating the forest and Richard ‘Gibbo’ Gibbs is making the science lab.
